Professional Regulation for Community

The VCJC accepts complaints from any source regarding law enforcement unprofessional conduct. The VCJC is the certifying body of law enforcement but does not have authority over employment actions. Any complaint received will be reviewed by the Executive Director to determine if there is a valid complaint. Any complaint that is logged in our register for review will be sent to the Professional Regulation Subcommittee when all investigatory files are received. The Subcommittee will review the complaint and determine whether or not there was a violation of any Council or Agency policy and what category that violation falls under. The process then continues at the Council level. For a comprehensive review of the process please Download a copy of the Act 56 Reference guide

Each agency has a complaint process for their employees that can coincide with any certification review by the Council.
