Vermont Criminal Justice Council

Law Enforcement Certification & Training Coordinator

The Vermont Criminal Justice Council (VCJC) is recruiting for a Law Enforcement Certification & Training Coordinator for the Police Academy. This position will report to the Director of Training, and focus on the development, delivery, and instruction of law enforcement core competencies. Training Coordinators are primarily based at the police academy with some travel expected. Law enforcement transformation and national policy changes will drive new curriculum as will current mandated training for in-service officers. This position will focus on the development, coordination, and curriculum for basic training for all certified officers with a specialty in developing online training and compliance.

Law Enforcement Certification & Training Coordinators mentor and model best practices, display qualities of equitable treatment and inclusion, and exemplify behaviors of law enforcement professionals through training and discipline. Experience in training supervisory level curriculum topics, current instruction in law enforcement-specific fields, ability to administer physical fitness training programs, and ability to collaborate with law enforcement agencies and partners to coordinate in-service training needs throughout the state are highly encouraged to apply. The position performs multiple competencies and reports to the Director of Training.

This position is based in Pittsford, VT and the hours are 8 AM to 4:30 PM with a minimum of one (1) overnight expected, but more will be required depending on the needs of training staff and the size of the incoming class. Some travel will be necessary and required to facilitate training in various locations throughout the state and nationally. Certification, or eligibility for certification, as a Level III Vermont Law Enforcement Officer is required. The Vermont Police Academy strongly encourages minority and BIPOC applicants to apply.

Brandon Police Department

Full-Time Patrol Lieutenant

Part-Time Patrol Officer(s)

The successful candidate will possess the following minimum requirements: be at least 21 years of age; be certified as a police officer by the VT Criminal Justice Training Council (VCJTC) or, if out-of-state certified, certifiable in the State of Vermont as a Law Enforcement Officer; possess a valid VT driver’s license; and must be able to perform all essential functions of the job.

Middlebury Police Department

Full-Time Police Officer

  • This position is responsible for the enforcement of local, state and federal laws and for participating in operational activities in a broad variety of assignments, including patrol, traffic, crime prevention, investigations, youth programs, training and technical services.

MAJOR DUTIES

  • Responds to calls for services regarding criminal activity, accidents, and other emergency and non-emergency situations in accordance with established departmental procedures.
  • Patrols assigned areas to detect and deter crime; conducts security checks of businesses and residences.
  • Interviews witnesses and victims at accident or crime scenes and obtains statements as appropriate.
  • Operates emergency vehicles during normal driving and emergency situations.

  • Guidelines include state and federal laws, established police procedures, and department rules and regulations. These guidelines require judgment, selection and interpretation in application.

  • The work consists of related law enforcement duties. The necessity of responding to dangerous and life-threatening situations contributes to the complexity of the position.
  • The purpose of this position is to enforce local, state and federal laws and to participate in assigned department operations. Success in this position contributes to the enforcement of local, state and federal laws and to the safety of life and property.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be 21 years of age at the time of the application.
  • Must have no less than 20/20 corrected vision in each eye.
  • Must be drug free for a minimum of three years.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required. Associates Degree or higher, Honorable Military Service or equivalent Law Enforcement work history preferred.

Thetford Police Department
